UMi is a Chinese smartphone brand that might be quite strange to many of you, but that does not mean the company does not have great flagship smartphone itself. The chinese company has been pushing out phones with flagship specs at super low prices, the UMi Z. And today we’ll take a hands on look at this device.
The first look at the appearance is its full premium metal unibody design. The surface is smooth and very cool to the touch on. It’s also lighter than you think when just weighs at 175g. I like the simple design of the phone as it keeps everything looking cleaner.
The UMi Z has 5.5-inch IPS display with impressive thin side bezels surrounding the FHD panel. The screen manufactured by Sharp is pretty bright, which makes the display have great viewing angles and high color saturation. Videos and pictures are really good on this screen as well.
Powering the UMi Z is the new Helio X27 chipset inside. The performance of this chip from MediaTek falls in between the Snapdragon 820 and the Exynos 8890. But you should not ask for much more than that due to its price point lower than $300. The Helio X27 Deca-Core SoC is clocked at 2.6GHz, the highest of the X20 family.
The chipset is based on the Tri-Cluster CPU architecture which allows the CPU to activate the most powerful cores automatically when necessary. So you’ll find games will perform very well and battery life will be extended during down times. Other spces of this smartphone are 4GB of RAM, 32GB onboard storage and the duo 13MP cameras on both the back and the front.
The last thing that is noticeable is the high 3780mAh battery capacity. This battery is paired with the Hilio X27 that means you’ll easily be able to use it last through the day.
