Great news for OnePlus fans as according to a new rumor coming from Korea; it claimed that OnePlus’ next flagship smartphone would be called the OnePlus 5. Many of you are wondering why the company skips the OnePlus 4. Well there are a couple of reasons: first, the number 4 is considered as a unlucky number in China, so there was a OnePlus 3T, and the next One Plus’s flagship (not including the OnePlus X) would technically be the fifth flagship the Chinese company makes.
The same report also suggested the OnePlus 5 would borrow a little bit design from the Galaxy S7 edge, when it featured a dual-edged display. Other specs of the device will be a 16MP front-facing camera, 23MP rear-facing sensor, 6GB or 8GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, dual SIM support, and it can even sport a ceramic body like the Xiaomi Mi Mix. Other details include a USB Type-C port along with the usual fast charging, a 4,000mAh battery.

There is one thing that we’re not still unclear is which SoC the Chinese company would go equipped for its next flagship device. Given that the Snapdragon 835 is now being locked up with Samsung for its Galaxy S8 and S8+, so hope OnePlus 5 could go with the Snapdragon 830 SoC or else OnePlus may wait it out until the company can get its hands on the new Qualcomm chip, after Samsung has completed stealing the limelight.
The OnePlus 5 is expected to be released to compete with the upcoming Galaxy S8, the unveiled LG G6 and the Huawei P10 as both of them were just introduced on day one of the Mobile World Congress 2017 (MWC) event.
