Samsung Galaxy S8 Pre-Orders Reaches to 1 Million in Korea

Could you believe that Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S8, has got a great success in the home market? According to latest reports from Korean media, Samsung Galaxy S8 has received more than 1 million pre-orders just in 10 days. The pre-order for the Galaxy S8 were available in South Korea from April 7th, only a week after its official launch on March 29th. It will go on sale in stores starting April 21st.

According to South Korean carriers, although the Galaxy S8 is not the most popular new smartphone in the Country, in fact it’s the first smartphone to cross 1 million pre-orders. Sources have states that Samsung is setting a target at selling more than 60 million units of the Galaxy S8 over 52 million units of the Galaxy S7. As for the recently prediction of Counterpoint Research, the Galaxy S8 sales will cross 50 million units only this year. However, it’s unclear how many customers who have made a pre-order will actually end up buying the Galaxy S8. Last year, around 70 percent preorder customers purchased the Galaxy S7, so the company is expecting the figure to be the same for the Galaxy S8. With no rival currently, the Galaxy S8 should have more chance to attract customers in South Korea as well as other major markets in the world, at least till Apple releases its new iPhone generation.

Even though the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge were quite good-selling last year, the iPhone 7 still outsold the Galaxy S7 duo. However, with the initial good response in South Korea, the Galaxy S8 could be a strong rival to the 2017 iPhone models. Samsung will also be releasing its Galaxy Note 8 later this year, which could possibly take many customers away from the iPhone 7s Plus or the rumored iPhone 8.
