The goal of Huawei is to one day the company can surpass Apple and Samsung, and with the Mate 10, the company hopes to take a further step to reach the goal. The Mate 10 will be launched with the same time of iPhone 8’s launch, but Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group, states that the Mate 10 will be even a more powerful smartphone.
The Huawei Mate 10 will officially be released on October 16 in Munich, Germany. The Lite version is rumored to be announced at the same time, but until now there is not any confirmation yet. If the same rumors are true, the Mate 10 could be priced at a hefty $1100, which is more expensive twice times over its predecessor, the Mate 9.
The upcoming Huawei Mate 10 is expected to be a monster in terms of performance. According to analyst Pan Jiutang, the Mate 10 will run on the latest Kirin 970 chipset, which is made by Huawei. The Kirin 970 SoC is built on 10 nanometer process instead of 16 nanometers of Kirin 960 appearing on the Huawei P10. Generally, a smaller semiconductor size will bring a better energy efficiency and performance.
This new processor could even be compared with the Exynos 8895, the Samsung’s latest SoC, or the Snapdragon 835 chipset of Qualcomm. Furthermore, this Kirin 970 processor would come with 8 cores, 4 ARM Cortex-A73 clocked at 3 GHz and 4 ARM Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.8 Ghz. In terms of graphic, Huawei should be integrated the Mali-G71 MP8 GPU.
