Facebook Messenger is a common message app on smartphones as it can work flawlessly most of the time, but once in a while, there are some issues happening with users. Many people have recently reported that the Messenger app gets unresponsiveness on their Samsung Galaxy phone. If you are having Samsung phones and the Messenger app on your device is not working properly, freezing or crashing, here are some tips to fix unresponsive Facebook Messenger on your Samsung devices.
Force Stop Messenger App
Here is the first solution you should try. Go to Settings > Apps > Application Manager. Here find and tap on Facebook Messenger and choose Force stop. Once you do this, re-launch the app and check the issue.
Restart Your Samsung Phone
If the previous tip did not take effect, then you restart your device. Because the system may slow down over time, so your device can become sluggish, and you may experience various issues relating apps, including the unresponsiveness of some apps. That time, a restart will give the fresh air to your device and fix the issue.
Update The App
Is your app not up-to date ? You should keep in mind that app’s updates include bug fixes, so they can solve the unresponsive issue of the Facebook Messenger app. Launch Google Play Store app on your Samsung phone, and if there is an update available, download and install it.
Clear Cache And Data
Android devices, including Samsung’s phones provide the users an option to clear cache and data. When an app does not work properly, this is something you should definitely do. First, clear the cache by going to Apps > Settings > Apps > Application manager, finding Facebook Messenger and tapping on it. Next, tap Storage and then Clear cache. After that, re-launch the app to check if it’s working normally.
If not, you then clear the app’s data, but doing this will clear the settings of the app and you will have to log back in. Head to Apps > Settings > Apps > Application manager and then tap on Facebook Messenger > Storage and Clear data. Now tap on Delete.
Reinstall Facebook Messenger
You just tap the Facebook Messenger’s icon and drag it to the trash can or go to Settings > Apps > Application Manager > Facebook Messenger and select Uninstall. After that restart your phone and then Google Play Store, download Facebook Messenger and install the app.
Free Up Storage Space
If the Facebook Messenger gets unresponsive on your Samsung device, make sure there is enough storage space on your device. If not, you will need to free up some space by deleting apps, files, photos, etc.
Update Android OS
Connect your phone to a stable Wi-Fi network and head to Settings > About device > Software Update. If there is an update available, simply download and install it.
If all of these above methods cannot fix unresponsive Facebook Messenger on your Samsung phones, you should try some other a bit more complex things. Boot your phone into Safe mode to check some third-party app is not causing the problem. To put your Samsung phone into the Safe Mode, simply power off your phone and keep the Volume Down button when booting it up.
